This month we are featuring Ray Fanous of XeoDev, a full service development agency at our Downtown Orlando location. We talked with Ray about his business and services, and also received a nice surprise especially for our clients!

Tell us about your company. What services do you provide?

XeoDev is a full service development agency. We develop a wide range of website and mobile applications specializing in the small and medium sized business market. XEO means ‘to bring forth that which is not’. Our senior technologists enjoy working with business owners to present a professional online experience and to take their business to the next level. We enjoy both strategic partnerships, clean designs, streamlining business processes, and building online communities.

When did you originally start your company?

XeoDev is the culmination of two lives spent in technology. We opened our company in June

What made you decide to open your own business?

After many years working for large companies and consulting firms, we are enjoying the chance to apply lessons learned to help our clients grow their endeavors. The partners met at a meetup meeting for startup co-founders. As we discovered that our skill set was complementary, we merged our current interests into this new company.

What’s the best part about running your own business?

Running our own company provides the freedom to take things in a different direction and make our own work/life balance. We enjoy partnering with entrepreneurs around the world to realize their vision. Our varied client base provides a rich set of new challenges every month and we enjoy discovering how these dovetail together in unexpected ways.

What’s the biggest challenge you face running your own business?

The tradeoff between working on existing projects and acquiring new business.

How do you enjoy spending your free time?

A game called 7 Little Words. Learning to cook with more fresh fruits and vegetables. Swimming. Spending time with family and friends.

How do you keep a balance between work and free time?

At some level, it’s about making work fun. But answering the phone when family calls and working from home around loved ones a few days a week goes a long way.

A goal without a plan is just a wish. Help enough other people reach their goals and you will reach yours.
